Abstract

A source of income, particularly for the tribal society, is land.  In actuality, the tribe's land is closely linked to its culture and traditions in addition to being a source of income.  Tribes have been deprived of their land due to the widespread acquisition of land for the Karbi Langpi Hydroelectric Dam Project.  Dams are built to supply electricity, irrigation, and navigation.  But it also has drawbacks, particularly for people whose livelihoods depend on the land.  Thus, land alienation leads to psychological insecurity as well as economic, social, and cultural instability.  The result of relocation brought on by development is impoverishment, which also causes the impacted individuals to become marginalized.  In addition, it has absorbed the prevailing ideals of women and ruined the children's future.  Thus, it is important to draw attention to the ways that land alienation impacts the tribal community's social, cultural, and economic existence.  Furthermore, it is critical to emphasize that land alienation causes the impacted individuals to become marginalized and impoverished.
