Abstract

Hydraulic systems play a vital role in modern fluid power engineering by enabling efficient transmission of power through pressurized liquids. Their ability to generate high force with precise control makes them essential in various sectors such as manufacturing, construction, aerospace, and marine applications. This paper presents a comprehensive review of hydraulic systems, covering fundamental principles such as Pascal’s law, fluid dynamics, and energy conservation. It further discusses key system components including pumps, actuators, valves, and hydraulic fluids, along with their design considerations and performance characteristics. Special attention is given to system efficiency, maintenance practices, safety aspects, and environmental impacts. In addition, the study highlights recent advancements such as digital hydraulics, smart monitoring systems, biodegradable fluids, and artificial intelligence integration. The paper aims to provide a detailed and structured understanding of hydraulic systems for both academic learning and practical engineering applications.
